CoastalPlay OT for Children

Paediatric Occupational Therapy

At CoastalPlay OT, we specialise in early years occupational therapy assessment and intervention for children with developmental disabilities or delays up until the age of 9 years. Sophie is a licensed occupational therapist who works with children to improve their play, emotional regulation, social skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care abilities.

Our Approach

Referral process

Sophie recognises that every child, their family and situation is unique so prior to starting the therapeutic journey together, an intake form will be completed to ensure CoastalPlay OT is the right fit for you. You do not need a referral from a GP.

Information gathering assessment

Sophie will complete an initial phone/zoom/face to face meeting with the child's caregiver to understand more about who the child is, why they are seeking OT, possible goals and how therapy may look for that child.

Child assessment

There are a variety of assessments that may be discussed in the initial meeting with the caregiver. Assessments enable therapist and caregivers to create goals and therapy plans for the child.

Report writing

A report can be completed for funding purposes (e.g. NDIS, support school funding applications) or provide home/ educational settings with strategies.

Intervention

Therapy will involve direct work with the child and relevant caregivers including parents, teachers and educators. A multidisciplinary approach will be applied when other therapists (e.g. psychologist, speech pathologist etc.) are involved to ensure effective intervention.

Community Based Therapy

Currently servicing Ocean Grove and surrounding suburbs. Therapy will occur in the community; home, kindergarten, daycare centres or school depending on setting policies.
